For those who appreciate truly luxurious rum, we have a special treat. This Gran Reserva from Flor de Caña is slowly aged for seven years to produce an exceptionally rounded, mellow drink. The Nicaraguan company Flor de Caña have been distilling since 1890 and are known as one of Central America’s top rum brands. Recently, the Reserva 7 year old was awarded a double gold medal at the 2015 International Rum Conference in Madrid, Spain.
The Gran Reserva 7 year old is matured in natural conditions in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, for seven years in barrels which formerly held bourbon. This gentle aging process brings out the rum’s caramel, vanilla, and oak flavours. Using traditional methods largely unchanged in over 100 years, Flor de Caña have established themselves as rum industry heroes thanks to their use of the highest quality sugar cane and their care and attention to the distilling process.
