Maturation
Already during the creation of Glenfarclas whiskys, great importance is attached to a traditional distillery. The special copper bubbles give the Scotch an unmistakable note. But the Glenfarclas gains even more class 18 years by maturing in carefully selected oak barrels. These previously housed sherry, so Glenfarclas whiskies traditionally mix a light sherry note with it. Sometimes one reads that the single malts mature for some time in ex-Bourbon barrels, but this has not yet been confirmed by the distillery.
Nosing
As soon as you open the bottle, the sweet scent of eighteen-year-old Glenfarclas rises into your nose. Honey and a hint of ripe fruit, vanilla and sherry make themselves felt and play around the senses.
Tasting
The wonderful taste of Glenfarclas 18 years is in no way inferior to its smell. Heavy, strong and yet pleasantly round, it lies on its tongue. Once again the sweet honey is an important component. It harmonises wonderfully balanced with aromas of dried fruits, plums, citrus fruits, caramel and apple. The exciting, versatile taste experience is rounded off by exquisite spices with a subtle note of nutmeg.
Finish
The aftertaste is long lasting, with sweet oak and a touch of dark bitter, which quickly fades away. Overall, the finish is also suitable for this exquisite whisky, it is also very mild.
Die Distillery
Tradition is written in capital letters at Glenfarclas. The distillery has been active since 1865. What is special is that it is one of the few Scottish distilleries still owned by the family. Already in the sixth generation, the Grand family is responsible for the finest whiskies, which are held in high esteem by lovers and beyond. The consistently high quality is traditionally created in the legendary Speyside in Scotland. The same goes for Glenfarclas 18, which is one of the highlights in the range thanks to its powerful yet wonderfully harmonious aromas.
