Production
The Havana Club Verde (0.7L) is produced similarly to a gin. First, herbs, spices, citrus peels and Cuban honey are macerated in the white rum for several hours. Then the blend, distilled in Copper Still, is bottled at 35% Vol.
Aroma
The first thing you smell is fresh honey, accompanied by aromas of lemon, thyme and grapefruit. Later, notes of freshly cut grass, roasted coconut, mild green chilli and a sweetness of candied oranges join in.
On the palate this rum combines tart notes of rosemary and mild notes of vanilla with the freshness of grapefruit. Lightly grassy notes round off the taste of Havana Club Verde.
Pernod Ricard
As the second largest spirits company worldwide, Pernod Ricard distributes spirits, wines and champagne. Its headquarters are in Paris. The two French companies merged in 1975 and since then have been marketing well-known premium brands such as Ramazzotti, Havana Club, Absolut, Ballantine’s, Chivas Regal, Jameson, The Glenlivet, Malibu, Lillet and Monkey 47.
Recommendation
This rum convinces with its versatility: It can be enjoyed pure. But you can also enjoy it as Verde Tonic: Pour 5cl Havana Club Verde in a long drink glass on plenty of ice, fill it with tonic water and garnish it with grapefruit and mint.
