Isle Of Jura Seven Wood 0,7L (42% Vol.)
The Isle of Jura Seven Wood Whisky is produced in seven oak casks and is therefore hard to beat in terms of richness and versatility. The single malt whisky is the result of creative development from traditional production methods to visionary thinking in the whisky distilling craft. Some will therefore be enthusiastic about it, others will criticise it. What is certain, however, is that the Isle of Jura distillery has created a single malt whisky that is anything but one-size-fits-all. In 2018, it was launched alongside the Journey, 10 Years, 12 Years and 18 Years editions. The mahogany-golden whisky is bottled in a stylish 0.7-litre bottle that looks good on any whisky shelf.

Production
The whisky is first matured in ex-bourbon American white oak casks before an exceptionally versatile finish in 6 different French oak casks. Hand-selected casks from the Allier, Limousin, Tronçais, Les Bertranges, Vosges and Jupilles varieties are found all over France and give the whisky its unique multi-layered character. The master blender was very passionate about this!
Aroma
The complex aroma is composed of stronger fruity notes of pear and subtle spicy notes of pepper, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon. There are also hints of sultanas, vanilla and marzipan. The variety of flavours is great.
Taste
On the palate, the whisky’s versatility continues with tones of candied orange, tart liquorice, caramelised peach and light coffee and smoky notes.
Finish
The finish is medium long. There is light smoke, mild chocolate and very subtle coffee notes. The 42% alcohol by volume is rather soft. Overall, the whisky is very balanced in all its tones.
