Name

The name of this exciting single malt from the house of Laphroaig goes back to the special bond between Scotland and Scandinavia. The word “Brodir” is old Norse and means as much as brother – a homage to this supra-regional relationship.

Aging

The special feature of Laphroaig Brodir Port Wood is mainly determined by its storage. Initially, the whisky was stored in former Bourbon barrels as is typical of Laphroaig. However, its special note came from an exciting barrel management, as it matured finally in Ruby Port casks.

Aroma

The nosing already shows that this is not a typical Laphroaig single malt. Characteristic for the whisky distillery is phenol, which rather moves into the background. Instead, the scent of sweet smoke, honey and fruit rises to the nose. A surprise that continues in the taste.

Taste

Light and invigorated by an extraordinary elegance, Laphroaig Brodir Port Wood offers a complex taste experience. It has a creamy mouthfeel and shows various components. These include vanilla and honey, which add a sweet note. You can also taste smoke, dark fruits and dry oak. This is rounded off by a soft Maritime, which has a slight salty smell.

Finish

The finish is long and dry. Again the fruit notes show up on the tongue, but also some charcoal.
