Nosing
In its fragrance, the Talisker exudes a strong peat smoke for 10 years. Nuances of fresh and salty oyster water rise into your nose. You can also see hints of the citrus-like sweetness.
Taste
The main notes are the strong peat and smoke. This is characteristic of the whisky production at the Isle of Skye. And the distillery is known for its fiery notes. This is also noticeable in the peppery explosion on the palate (also called “chili catch” by connoisseurs). The warming smoke and the tart peat are rounded off by the rich sweetness of dried fruits and malt. A certain saltiness, which reminds of the sea and a hint of lemon come to the fore.
On the palate, the sweetness of the dried fruit is particularly strong, accompanied by strong notes of barley malt and smoke. In the back of the mouth it gets warmer and warmer and more intense peppery.
All in all, the Talisker 10 years is a wonderful combination of smoky and sweet, bitter and fruity flavours.
Flavour: smoky, sweet, peppery, traces of malt and dried fruit
Aroma: smoky, strong, salty, with tips of citrus
Finish
In the finish the Talisker 10 YO is long and complex. The “fiery call” of The Talisker Distillery is noticeable again – peppery and sharp it comes to a strong finish.
